Jill Caldwell

Chief Executive, Endeavour/Paws for Kids

Jill is the CEO of Endeavour/Paws for Kids, a survivor led community domestic abuse charity supporting people and pets to live a life free from Domestic Abuse. Founded in 1997, they were the first UK charity to offer a pet fostering service for families.

Pet fostering remains a core project of the charity and from their base in Bolton they have expanded services to work with a broad range of people supporting those in their own homes, in temporary accommodation and those sofa surfing. The charity has developed specialist projects in response to community need including ‘Panah’ supporting people subjected to Forced Marriage and Honour Based Abuse and a dedicated project for older adults, ‘Evergreen’, where the oldest survivor is aged 99.

Jill has worked and volunteered in the charity sector for 35 years with community focused services her passion. She delivers forums and training including an annual Domestic Abuse Symposium for the University of Bolton and believes early intervention and awareness raising are essential to break the cycle of domestic abuse.

Jill is currently working on two national pilot programmes in partnership with SafeLives, the first Children Affected by Domestic Abuse programme looking at the adapting recovery toolkits to meet the needs of minoritised families. The second, the Echo Project incorporating the authentic voice of survivors into the development of national and local services.
Prior to joining Endeavour, Jill worked as Finance and Resources Director for Citizens Advice and was a trustee and volunteer dog walker with Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary.

Jill enjoys renovating houses and spending time with her two rescue dogs Pip and Molly.

What Our Attendees Say

The speaker's presentation was incredibly impactful. It truly opened my eyes to the importance of recognising and addressing the link between animal and human abuse. The Links Group's mission is now something I deeply support.

'Even though I ask the question on the DASH form regarding animal abuse, I feel more confident how to respond’.

‘Whilst the sharing of real scenarios from survivors' experiences was confronting and difficult to hear, it really cemented the knowledge and research you were providing’.

Attending this event was a game-changer for me. The insights shared by the speaker were both enlightening and motivating. I left feeling empowered to make a difference in my community.
