Domestic Abuse Practise Advisor

I’m Emily – Em. I have been a keen campaigner of all things VAWG for a many years. Extensive experience in safeguarding and delivery of front-line Domestic Abuse Services for survivors and their children. I have a degree in Applied Social care Studies (Social work route) and still draw back to the modules that helped sculpt my understanding of equality.
I am incredibly passionate about supporting individuals, families, and organisations to help overcome the effects of domestic abuse. I approach each challenge with the same compassion, enthusiasm, desire to learn, and positive attitude as I did on the day this journey began.
Have worked at medium and High risk closely with agencies such as social care and the police, and also delivered the Domestic Abuse Matters training to police first responders and partner agencies. I have sat on the scrutiny panel with Derbyshire Constabulary for a number of years, deep diving cases that have been through the system successfully, and not so.
My current role is as a Domestic Abuse Practise Advisor with the NSPCC, where I am fortunate enough to be able to have a hand in sculpting Domestic abuse service provision and equipping others to be as effective ass possible in their response to DA.
I live at home in Derby with my wife Jo and our two dogs, we also have a horse and a pony that keep us busy! I love; summertime, Pimm’s,  ice cream, and jeans that fit. I don’t have a favourite colour because I can’t make my mind up and my birth stone is a coffee bean!

What Our Attendees Say

The speaker's presentation was incredibly impactful. It truly opened my eyes to the importance of recognising and addressing the link between animal and human abuse. The Links Group's mission is now something I deeply support.

'Even though I ask the question on the DASH form regarding animal abuse, I feel more confident how to respond’.

‘Whilst the sharing of real scenarios from survivors' experiences was confronting and difficult to hear, it really cemented the knowledge and research you were providing’.

Attending this event was a game-changer for me. The insights shared by the speaker were both enlightening and motivating. I left feeling empowered to make a difference in my community.
