Mary has over 15 years practice experience working in the domestic abuse sector. She is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Refuge4Pets, a charity providing a specialist animal fostering service to victim-survivors of domestic abuse. The charity is one of the Links Group specialist domestic abuse animal fostering services.

Mary is a Senior Research Associate at the University of Bristol with a specialism in the dynamics and implications of the use/abuse of animals in the context of domestic abuse, particularly animal abuse as a strategy of coercive control. She is currently investigating the interconnection between animal abuse and domestic abuse related deaths. This 2y part-time study is funded by Defra and is a collaboration between the University of Bristol and Refuge4Pets.
