The Links Group are lucky to have the support of a number of veterinary individuals, associations and businesses, and one of those who have championed our work is Vetpol.

Vetpol have been strong supporters of The Links Group, both behind the scenes and by actively helping us raise awareness of the link between abuse of animals and abuse of people.  In November 2024, we were a part of Vetpol’s Munch & Learn online event, with a presentation by Emily Mills, RVN, Links Group speaker and Vet Projects Manager at Dogs Trust.  In 2025, the Vetpol team demonstrated their understanding of this difficult area and their commitment to the well-being and training opportunities for Suitably Qualified Persons (SQPs) and animal welfare by hosting us in the incredible Thingamajig Room at April’s SQP Congress 2025 in Loughborough.

SQPs are individuals from a range of backgrounds who have all received a particular format of training to allow them to prescribe and supply certain classifications of veterinary medicines working from authorised SQP retailer premises.  They are qualified in Companion Animal (dogs, cats, rabbits), Equine, Farm or Avian, or any combination. SQPs qualified with Vetpol are trained in the broader aspects of animal health including general welfare and appropriate care.  Find out more about this in our blog here and their fast-track training from director and Links Group supporter Caroline Johnson here.

We’re delighted to say that Vetpol continue their support of The Links Group in 2026, in a number of ways, one of which is by visibly raising our presence and profile with SQPs via their Munch&Learn Mini Bites.

As described by Vetpol’s Lisa Giddings,

“True to Vetpol’s relevant, engaging and fun approach to CPD, Mini Bites are a series of online lunchtime webinars open to for ALL SQPS from any registration body – Vetpol, VetSkill or AMTRA.

Unlike typical webinars that play in the background while you eat, Mini Bites sessions aim to make learning interactive and enjoyable. To participate with other SQPS in this fun educational experience, register with Vetpol’s Learning Management System then go to Events.

First Mini Bites Session: Behaviour Problems

The first Mini Bites session, ‘Behaviour Problems’, will take place on Wednesday 18th March at 13:00. This session is sponsored by Ceva and will be hosted by Tanya Leslie MRCVS, Advisor for Feliway and Adaptil.

Session Overview

Have you ever found yourself at a loss when a pet owner seeks advice on problem behaviour? With a plethora of sprays, supplements, collars, and toys available, it’s often difficult to discern what each product does, its contents, or its suitability for a particular situation. Behaviour concerns can pose significant challenges, and offering incorrect advice could inadvertently worsen the issue.

What to Expect

Ceva’s Mini Bites session will feature an interactive discussion and a Q&A led by a veterinarian experienced in both behaviour products and dog training. This will help demystify the choices, enhance your confidence, and make your conversations with customers more effective. By participating, you’ll grow your skill set and strengthen the trust and loyalty between your store or vet practice and the pet owners you support.
