One of the many highlights of our Links work is engaging with those who can help us drive change. Whether this is the future vet teams we meet during our vet school training, the delegates at our Links Veterinary Training Days, the webinar attendees who engage so actively during our online sessions, or the many veterinary organisations who have joined our Safe Spaces campaign with Hestia, we’re constantly seeking collaborative opportunities and innovative ways to tackle abuse.

This week provided a unique opportunity to engage with changemakers – an invitation to Parliament from the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Animal Welfare (APGAW) to take part in a roundtable discussion with MPs about ‘Protecting pets in households impacted by domestic abuse’.  We were joined by fellow experts in this field, including colleagues from our animal fostering group and the founder of the ‘Ruby’s Law’ campaign, barrister Christina Warner, to brief MPs and Peers and discuss what could be done to tackle the issue. You can read more in our update below.

Our work isn’t possible without the support of many fantastic organisations, and as a result of this, we’re thrilled to be able to progress some exciting projects this year! We’ll update you all fully soon, but a huge thank you to Pets Foundation for their funding, BSAVA for their continued support of our in-person training days and to BVRA for all their ongoing support. We’d also like to thank the team at The Ralph who provided brilliant support for our latest veterinary webinar, and IVC Evidensia for their fantastic donation towards our vital work, and of course, MSD for their long-running support of our veterinary undergraduate training.

Many thanks,

Paula Boyden, Chair, and the Links Group Trustees
